TPRS® Workshop

This is one- to three-day workshop detailing the extremely successful TPRS® (Teaching Proficiency through Reading and Storytelling) teaching method invented by Blaine Ray. TPRS® is a student-centered method of acquiring a second language that builds vocabulary and structures of a language through increased comprehensible input while decreasing a student’s apprehension and stress of learning a second language. This method applies the principles of second-language acquisition and is being used not only throughout the United States, but around the world.

Immediate Immersion Workshop

This is one- to three-day workshop showing how to implement the Immediate Immersion™ curriculum, TPRS®, and other comprehensible-input techniques in your classroom to attain high-levels of proficiency from your students. Based on focusing on the Super Verbs (an idea by Terry Waltz) and the most-frequent words in a language, Immediate Immersion™ is natural language immersion within your classroom.

Power Grading™

This one- or two-day workshop introduces a standards-based approach to grading in today’s world-language classroom. Based on students’ proficiency levels and the main content standards in foreign languages, this approach to grading attempts to pair more accurately a student’s abilities in the language with a tangible grade required by most schools and universities. This grading method also increases student learning and achievement by more precisely pinpointing in which skills a student excels and where they may need some improvement.

Less is more when it comes to assessment. Participants will learn how to get more out of each assessment requiring less assessments overall and how to spend less time grading and more time teaching in the classroom.
